The economy is failing people and the planet. What comes next?
FILM SCREENING AND COMMUNITY DISCUSSION
FRIDAY | MAY 2, 2025 | 6:00PM | FREE ADMISSION
Mount Baker Community Club | 2811 Mt Baker Drive S, Seattle
Our current system is devouring natural resources at a violent pace while dividing us by gender,
race, and citizenship. “Change the system, not the climate” is commonly heard—but what does
that actually mean?
Join Mount Baker Meaningful Movies, 350 Seattle, XR Seattle, Seattle DSA, and other local
climate and social justice organizations for a powerful evening of film, discussion, and
action as we explore bold new economic models and grassroots innovations proving another
way is possible.
Outgrow the System explores how we can create an economy that works for people and the
planet—not corporate profits. Through visionary ideas and real-world examples, the film
challenges old assumptions and offers a blueprint for a just, sustainable future.
Stick around to connect with others, learn about actionable next steps, and find ways to plug into the movement.
Be inspired by real-world solutions that are challenging economic injustice and environmental destruction. This is more than a film screening—it’s a space for connection, collaboration, and action.
Free admission, food, and refreshments. Donations welcome. Come find your place in the movement. After the screening, hear from local organizers already building alternative economies in the Greater Seattle area:
- Adasha Turner – Black Seed AgroEcology
- Farms, Modest Family Solutions
- Aloysious – Heron’s Nest
- Dane Negri – ecoTHRIVE
- Derek Hoshiko – Kicking Gas, Salish Sea Cooperative Finance
- Victor Rodriguez – Community2Community Farm Co-op, Front and Centered
- + Hear from many more community leaders during tabling before and after the event!
