From Chuck Willer Executive Director of Coast Range Association
After six years of public discussion, revisions, and debate, the Oregon Board of Forestry will hold a special virtual meeting on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, to decide whether to adopt the new Western Oregon State Forests Management Plan. The decision will guide the management of more than 620,000 acres of state forests in Clatsop, Tillamook, Lincoln, and western Lane counties for years to come.
This plan works alongside the recently advanced Habitat Conservation Plan, and together they will shape the future of Oregon’s coastal state forests. Throughout the planning process, conservation organizations, including the Coast Range Association and the State Forest Coalition, have advocated for stronger protections for wildlife, watersheds, and mature forests.
