About the Training
In this dynamic and interactive course, Cascadia Permaculture offers teaching techniques encouraging ways to apply Permaculture principles and strategies in a wide range of educational settings. We demonstrate a combination of teaching modalities including lecturing and storytelling, small group work, interactive/experimental activities, visual aids and hands on learning. Participants build confidence by engaging in essential practice via preparing and coteaching in a variety of presentations as well as being co-facilitators of this course.
About the Teachers
Jude is an internationally recognized permaculturist with 35 years’ experience in the design and teaching fields. She utilizes whole-system design techniques providing environmentally sound solutions in urban and rural settings which promotes sustainable actions.
Through her business, Ago-Ecology Northwest, Jude specializes in encouraging farm management practices for optimizing resource conservation, biodiversity, watershed enhancement and income diversification.
As an educator she conveys her passion for permaculture by providing curricula developed to encompass diverse learning styles with teaching techniques that are accessible, inspiring and information rich. Her courses offer a safe place for learning, the strategies to understand whole systems design and the confidence to get out there to do awesome work via a tool kit for action.
Meet Carol Burton, a passionate advocate for healthy communities and a true gardening enthusiast. Her love for nurturing both plants and people has driven her to champion access to fresh fruits and vegetables while instilling a lifelong appreciation for gardening through education and collaboration.
In 2019, Carol’s dedication to environmental education was recognized with the prestigious “Elizabeth Abernathy Hull Award.” She’s also been celebrated for her contributions to school gardens by the SPARK School Park Program. Carol’s commitment to supporting youth extends beyond the garden, as she was honored for her frontline work in afterschool programs by the Cooperative for Afterschool and Summer Enrichment. Alongside her impactful work, Carol is an active member of esteemed organizations like the Native Plant Society of Houston and the Texas Environmental Educators Association, where she continues to sow the seeds of positive change in her community.
