I’m really excited to announce the launch of Orogon State University’s Free Introduction to Permaculture class. At OSU Permaculture Design, we really don’t want this vital permaculture information to be locked up behind a paywall. We charge money for our more intensive courses, because we need to have a functional program with staff to give one-on-one feedback and personalized guidance on regenerative designs. But our highest goal is to put the information out for free, which we do a ton of. Working within a non-profit university, this is actually encouraged by the university mission, which values “work to remove barriers and create equitable outcomes for communities denied access to opportunity.” Permaculture is such a useful and vital tool for healing degraded landscapes, establishing food, water, and economic security, and building resilience against unstable climate and social situations.
