The Salt Creek Recreation Area needs community support
This beautiful 196-acre public park sits along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, about 15 miles west of Port Angeles, and is a favorite destination for beach access, tidepools, and day trips. Many will remember it as a longtime site for Ryan Drum’s seaweed and wildcrafting workshops.
Currently, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is planning a logging project in the legacy forest adjacent to the park. This proposal raises serious concerns due to the ecological value of legacy forests and their proximity to a heavily used public recreation area.
The Earth Law Center is seeking Jefferson County residents to help protect the Salt Creek forest and advocate for its preservation. Community involvement is urgently needed. For more information and ways to take action, see the poster above and watch this video on FB or on Instragram
