Join the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action for the annual Hiroshima & Nagasaki Memorial Weekend of Action, a gathering dedicated to remembering the human cost of nuclear weapons and strengthening the movement for peace.
For more than 40 years, the Ground Zero Center, located near Naval Base Kitsap–Bangor, has served as a place of education, witness, and nonviolent resistance to the expansion of nuclear weapons. As the U.S. nuclear arsenal continues to modernize, the Bangor base remains home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of deployed nuclear warheads, making this work as relevant as ever.
The weekend includes educational workshops, community building, a nonviolent demonstration at the base gates, and opportunities to connect with others committed to creating a safer and more peaceful future.
On Sunday, August 9, the 81st anniversary of the bombing of Nagasaki, journalist and filmmaker Abby Martin will deliver the keynote address, reflecting on the continuing global threat posed by nuclear weapons and the importance of grassroots action.
Whether you are new to the anti-nuclear movement or have been involved for years, all are welcome to participate in this weekend of remembrance, learning, and peaceful action.
